Creamsicle Lip Balm with doTERRA Wild Orange Essential Oil
Lip balm is a common must-have, but unfortunately it can contain chemicals, artificial fragrances, and salicylic acid which can actually irritate lips and cause dryness. Go natural with this DIY lip balm!
Ingredients:
1/2 ounce beeswax (around 1 1/2 tablespoons)
1/2 ounce coconut oil (around 1 tablespoon)
1/4 ounce shea butter (around 1/2 tablespoon)
1/4 ounce cocoa butter (around 1/2 tablespoon)
30 drops Wild Orange essential oil
2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
Large skillet/saucepan with water
Glass measuring cup
Scale
Lip balm containers
Directions:
1. Measure everything but the Wild Orange essential oil and the vanilla extract into a glass measuring cup or bowl.
2. Fill a large skillet/saucepan with 1-1.5 inches of water. Bring to a boil. Once boiling, place the glass measuring cup in the center of the saucepan to melt and combine ingredients. Stir every few minutes until the ingredients are melted and combined (10-15 minutes).
Another option is to heat ingredients in the microwave, stirring at 20-second intervals.
Tip: Use a Popsicle stick to stir for easy cleanup.
3. Once all wax is melted, remove from heat and let sit for 3 minutes. Then add vanilla extract and Wild Orange essential oil.
4. Pour mixture into lip balm containers. It’s okay if you spill; wax easily comes off of plastic and counter-tops.
5. Let the mixture cool and you’re done!
